The Boston Red Sox gave Brendan Rodgers a chance. Instead, Rodgers has been cut loose just before Opening Day. Red Sox beat writer Brendan Campbell reported the news on X on Wednesday : "The Red Sox have released veteran infielder Brendan Rodgers, who was in camp as a non-roster invite this spring before suffering a right shoulder injury earlier this month that ultimately required surgery.

Rodgers hasn't been able to live up to that draft status, though, aside from one Gold Glove. His best season with the Rockies was 2021, when he batted . 284 with 21 doubles and 15 home runs.
