Somerset's Sampeer makes college declaration to play tennis

'Even though I have only been playing tennis for two years, once I started, I fell in love with it.'

SOMERSET — Quinn Sampeer began playing tennis as a junior in high school. However, because of her determination and competitive spirit, the Somerset Area High School senior will continue her playing career at the collegiate level. Sampeer announced her intentions to attend and compete on the tennis team at Division III Mount Aloysius College, where she will play for former Somerset assistant coach Matthew Jacobs, Wednesday, March 25.

"I am most excited to have Matthew Jacobs as my coach once again at The Mount," Sampeer said. "I like that it is a smaller school and I will be able to focus on both my academic and athletic career at Mount Aloysius. 7 GPA. She plans to major in special education at Mount Aloysius. She is president of Best Buddies Club, which brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities.

She is a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Spanish Honor Society and is a 2025-26 Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference unified bocce honoree for the winter sports season. She is eager to continue her tennis career and create bonds on and off the court. "I am looking forward to making connections with the girls on the tennis team and hopefully make lifelong friendships," Sampeer said.
