Texas A&M HC Joni Taylor could be a name in her alma mater Alabama's coaching shortlist.

Texas A&M Womenโ€™s Basketball Head Coach Joni Taylor could be considered as a candidate for the now vacant Alabama HC job, according to On3 Sports . Taylor played for the Crimson Tide from 1997 to 2001 and holds the fourth-most career blocked shots in program history. Taylor has eleven seasons as an SEC Head Coach under her belt, starting her HC tenure at Georgia in 2015-16.

After notching back-to-back NCAA Tournament bids in Athens, she was hired to lead the Aggies before the 2022-23 season. Taylor led the Texas A&M to a March Madness appearance in her second year in College Station as an 11-seed, where they lost to Albany in the first round. Alabama has made the NCAA tournament in four consecutive seasons but has failed to advance past the second round.

Former HC Kristy Curry left the school on Tuesday after being hired by USF. On3 Sports mentioned Taylor as a potential candidate due to her wealth of SEC experience and legacy at the school. "Joni Taylor has been at the helm of Texas A&M and has plenty of SEC experience.

After starting her career on staff at Troy and Louisana Tech, she joined Alabama as their associate head Coach from 2008-2010. She's been in the SEC ever since, spending time at LSU and Georgia before taking over with the Aggies. And, of course, Alabama is her alma mater.
