Former Xavier head coach Chris Mack takes over at USF

Chris Mack, Xavier's head coach from 2009-2018, spent the last two seasons at the College of Charleston. He has a new position now.

Chris Mack has been named the new head coach at the University of South Florida, the school announced on Wednesday, March 25. "(USF) Bulls basketball has incredible momentum, and we've found an outstanding coach and leader to elevate our program to the next level," USF CEO of Athletics Rob Higgins said in a statement . Mack, 56, replaces Bryan Hodgson, who was just introduced as the new head coach at Providence after leading USF to American Conference regular-season and conference titles and the NCAA Tournament in his lone season.

He led the Musketeers to the NCAA Tournament eight times, including four Sweet 16 trips and an Elite Eight appearance in 2017. Mack left Xavier for Louisville after being a No. 1 seed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
