However, there's always room for growth. Many players tend to make a significant leap in their performance from their rookie year to their sophomore season, just like Maye did, and they often continue to improve even further in their third year. Patriots reporter Taylor Kyles highlighted several areas where he believes Maye can elevate his game this season.

“Play with more poise, better understanding of the offense, and, more than anything, protect the ball better," Kyles said Wednesday on Patriots on CLNS. Maye fumbled the ball 17 times in his first two seasons, losing nine of those. This doesn’t even include the playoffs, where he fumbled seven times and lost four over the course of four games.

If Maye doesn't take care of the football this season, New England is likely to find itself on the losing end of more games. The Patriots will face tougher competition after finishing in first place in the AFC East last season, and turning it over against great teams isn't a recipe for success.
