Inside 2028 4-star James Armstrong’s recruitment: Early favorites, visit plans

Quarterback James Armstrong is quickly becoming one of the top young signal-callers to watch in the 2028 class. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound prospect out of Aliquippa (Pa. ) Hopewell already checks in at No.

90 in the Rivals300 and is building momentum early in his recruitment. Armstrong put together a strong season last fall, throwing for 2,232 yards and 21 touchdowns while adding 799 rushing yards and 16 more scores on the ground. Top programs have noticed, and Armstrong currently holds 10 offers.

Duke , Florida State , Penn State , Pittsburgh , North Carolina and West Virginia have already jumped in this race. Many other will join. Armstrong has already been on the road this month, making a trip to West Virginia earlier in March.

He has several more visits scheduled as he continues evaluating programs this spring. He plans to visit Pittsburgh on March 21 and Penn State on March 26 before heading south for trips to Duke on April 17 and North Carolina on April 18. Armstrong is also discussing a possible visit to Virginia.

It is still very early in the process, but a few schools have already made a strong impression. “I would say Pittsburgh, Penn State and Duke are all doing a good job recruiting me right now,” Armstrong told Rivals. Those schools also have his early attention.
