Dolphins sign veteran LB, third-round pick

Yahoo Sports

The Miami Dolphins hadn't added an off-ball linebacker yet this offseason, but that changed with a free agent signing on Wednesday.

The Miami Dolphins had three off-ball linebackers hit the market this offseason, and while they re-signed Willie Gay, K. J. Britt signed with the New England Patriots and Caleb Johnson remains unsigned.

With that, the Dolphins could use the depth, so they're signing linebacker Ronnie Harrison, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Harrison, 28, played collegiately at Alabama from 2015-17, earning All-SEC honors once and winning two national championships before becoming a third-round pick (No. 93 overall) in the 2018 NFL draft.

In his eight seasons in the league, he's had stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons. He's appeared in 94 games and recorded 274 tackles, 11 passes defensed, 8. 5 sacks, seven interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.

Harrison will be part of the group that helps back up Jordyn Brooks and Tyrel Dodson. More Dolphins: Dolphins fix experiment that 'failed miserably' in new mock draft This article originally appeared on Dolphins Wire: NFL free agency: Dolphins sign veteran LB, third-round pick
