Coco Gauff names fastest WTA player after Miami win

Despite dropping the second set, Gauff regained control in the decider to finish strong and secure her place in the last four. Bencic had no shortage of chances to pull even at times but couldn’t capitalise.
Gauff’s ability to chase down balls and defend under pressure made a big difference, especially late in the match. After the win, she was asked about her speed and who she thinks is the quickest player on tour. “People don’t like it when I say it, but I feel like I have enough tape to show that. “100 metres I feel I would be pretty good. Sloane [Stephens] is pretty fast when she is in her prime.
Iga [Swiatek] is really fast. [Maria] Sakkari is fast. “I think 100 metres is different.
I feel I would definitely be in the top three or top four for sure. “Over 200 metres, though, that’s where Gauff thinks she has a real edge. She said: “The longer the race, the better for me.
