Butler Names Ronald Nored New Head Coach

The Big East school announced Wednesday that Nored, an Atlanta Hawks assistant and former Butler point guard who played in back-to-back NCAA championship games under former coach Brad Stevens, would succeed the retired Thad Matt as head coach. He will be introduced Friday at a press conference at Hinkle Fieldhouse that is open to the public.
He will be the second new head coach in the Big East along with Bryan Hodgson at Providence. "The term 'dream jobโ doesnโt do justice to how I feel about the opportunity to lead the Butler program," said Nored in a statement. "Butler is an incredibly special place.
As a player, I poured blood, sweat and tears into this program. No one appreciates both the responsibility and the potential that comes with this position more than me. Passionate fans, Hinkle Fieldhouse, the BIG EAST, storied tradition, a world-class education, a thriving cityโฆ there is incredible momentum at Butler right now and I can't wait to hit the ground running as we elevate Butler to new heights.
