Pau Cubarsi discusses Barcelona links to Serie A heavyweight – ‘We follow each other’ Pau Cubarsi, like many other Barcelona players, is currently out on international duty with the Spain national team. The young defender is part of the squad that will take on Serbia and Egypt in the upcoming international friendlies. Speaking ahead of the first friendly against Serbia on Friday, Cubarsi was notably asked to comment on Alessandro Bastoni.

The Inter Milan defender has reportedly topped Barcelona’s transfer wishlist heading into the summer of 2026, as the club look to beef up their ranks in the defensive unit. Cubarsi on Bastoni amid Barcelona links Responding to the question, Cubarsi admitted he is a great admirer of the Italian international and that the two follow each other on Instagram. “We follow each other on Instagram for having shared the field together and because we’re colleagues in the profession,” he told RAC1 (h/t Fabrizio Romano ).

Cubarsi’s comments come at a time when Barcelona are trying hard to get their hands on Bastoni, who has emerged as an ideal long-term defensive target for the Blaugrana . Sporting director Deco has already been to Milan to discuss the possibility of signing the Inter Milan star, although negotiations with the Italian club will not be straightforward. Should Bastoni join Barça, though, he will likely operate alongside Cubarsi to form the core of Barcelona’s defensive line, thus effectively serving as a replacement for Inigo Martinez.
