Brad Stevens is a Celtic through and through

Since then, his name has become a hot topic within college basketball anytime a big job opening arises. So, it made sense when Stevens' name was floated following the University of North Carolina’s decision to fire Hubert Davis. Shortly after the news of Davis’ release was made public, CBS Sports reported that Stevens was seen as a long shot, but still an ideal candidate for the job.

However, less than 12 hours later, CBS reported that sources close to Stevens had removed him from the running to take over as the Tar Heels' next head coach. “Less than 12 hours after news broke that North Carolina fired Hubert Davis on Tuesday night, an expected but notable bit of clarity to the university's coaching search has already been communicated: Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens has removed his name from consideration for the Tar Heels job, sources told CBS Sports,” Matt Norlander reported. Since moving into Boston’s front office, Stevens has earned a reputation as one of the best executives in the NBA.

His trades have been calculated and, for the most part, successful. His draft picks have panned out more often than not, including last year’s selection of Baylor Scheierman, who is currently a key part of Joe Mazzulla’s rotation. And, Stevens is expertly navigating a retooling phase with the franchise.
