Cyclones sweep Houston with 8-7 game three W

A walk-off game winner for Iowa State Sunday afternoon saw Iowa State earn a three-game sweep over the Houston Cougars in Big 12 play. The win Sunday, evened the Cyclones Big 12 record at 3-3. Iowa State improved to 19-10 overall.

Iowa State has won four games in a row. The Cyclones are home again this week, hosting Drake Wednesday at 4 p. m.

Iowa State will travel to Lubbock, Texas this weekend for a three-game series at Texas Tech from Friday, March 27-Sunday, March 29. Texas Tech led 2-0 after a two run top of the first, but Iowa State pushed three runs home in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-2 lead after the first inning. Houston scored the next four runs over the next three innings to retake the lead, 6-3.

The Cyclones crept closer with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 6-6 after four innings. The Cyclones took a 7-6 lead with a run in the fifth. Houston didn’t quit, scoring a run in the top of the sixth to tie the score at 7-7.

Victoria Prado was the hero for the Cyclones with a walk-off at bat in the bottom of the seventh inning after a Houston error. Prado led the Cyclone offense going 2-for-4 with a RBI. Iowa State had four extra base hits in the game.
