Sarasota and Manatee boys and girls basketball players played in an all-star game at Saint Stephen's on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Sam Reindel of Sarasota High earned the Most Valuable Player award as a group of Sarasota County All-Stars rolled past Manatee County’s best, 96-81, in a game to honor the top area senior basketball players at Hoagland Arena on the campus of Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School. Reindel led the Sarasota stars with 18 points, and two other senior Sailors were also in double figures. David Young scored 12, and Sam Revill added 10 points from the team that finished this season as the Class 7A state runner-up.

“This was our last opportunity to play high school basketball, so we had to make the most of it,” Reindel said. Playing for the Manatee stars, Parrish Community High’s Evan Roberts certainly made the most of it. Roberts ran away with the dunk contest at halftime of the boys game and then played the second half with two more impressive dunks before finishing with 21 points.

“I knew that as long as I made my dunks I was going to win the contest,” said Roberts, who will play for the University of Jacksonville next season. “I tried to come out here and have as much fun as possible. It’s the last time I will get to play in this city.

” Blair Phillips of the IMG Academy led all scorers with 26 points for the Manatee Stars. “The first half was more serious,” said the 6-foot-8 Phillips. “The second half it got a little messy.
