ESPN analyst loved the 'fearlessness' of Rams' offseason moves
The Rams didn't make a ton of moves, but they made enough to get the attention of ESPN's Ben Solak.
The Los Angeles Rams enjoyed a big offseason. While they made only three major moves, they were all done to upgrade the secondary. L.
A. traded for and extended cornerback Trent McDuffie , re-signed safety Kamren Curl and signed Jaylen Watson in free agency. Those moves were enough for ESPN's Ben Solak to rank the Rams' 2026 free agency class as the 12th-best in the league.
While not a terribly high rating, Solak appreciated the "fearlessness" of the Rams' offseason in making major re-adjustments to their weakest position. I enjoy watching an uncorked Les Snead wheeling and dealing his way into building quick contenders. The Rams don't get any bonus points here for "winning" what I thought was an even Trent McDuffie trade.
But McDuffie is a scheme fit, and the Rams are on an expiring Matthew Stafford timeline, so they do get points for making an aggressive trade when an aggressive trade was justified. The acquisition of Watson, who brings a press coverage skill set that was noticeably absent in Los Angeles last season, is compounded by his familiarity with McDuffie. Those two will help one another hit the ground running in a new system.
