Shiffrin wins record-equalling sixth World Cup

Needing a top-15 finish in the final race of the season, the American was 11th in the giant slalom in Lillehammer, Norway. Shiffrin, who won her third Olympic title with slalom gold last month, is the most successful skier in World Cup history with 110 wins.

Austrian Annemarie Moser-Proell won six World Cups from 1971 to 1979. "I'm really, really grateful to be in this position. It's really a big emotion," Shiffrin said.

Shiffrin ended the season with 1,386 points, 87 clear of Germany's Emma Aicher. Aicher needed to win in Lillehammer and hope Shiffrin finished outside the top 15, but finished 12th after completing her final run once the title had been decided. Shiffrin puts Beijing disappointment behind her to become three-time Olympic champion
