Can the Spartans get it done this year? Here's how to watch Michigan State hockey in Thursday's NCAA Tournament first round game vs. UConn

Michigan State hockey returns to the NCAA Tournament on Thursday afternoon, looking to snap an extend Frozen Four drought after yet another impressive regular season of play. The Spartans are in the NCAA Tournament as a top seed for a third straight season, but will look to have more success on the ice than what we saw in the previous two stints in the postseason. Michigan State will open this year's NCAA Tournament in a Worcester Region first round matchup against UConn on Thursday afternoon.

Michigan State was ranked in the top five nationally all season long, finishing the year with a third straight Big Ten regular season championship and overall record of 25-8-2. The regular season success, though, is behind the Spartans now as they look to break through and reach their first Frozen Four since 2007 after failing to do so in the last two NCAA Tournaments. UConn will look to right the ship in the NCAA Tournament after a tough finish to the regular season, finishing the season with a 1-4-1 record across their final six.

The Huskies were able to play their way back into the NCAA Tournament field after a deep run in the Hockey East Tournament, and finishing the season with a 20-12-5 overall record. This year's appearance in the NCAA Tournament is a second straight for the Huskies, which are the only two in their program's history. The winner of this matchup between Michigan State and UConn will move onto Saturday's regional final against the winner of Dartmouth and Wisconsin.

Those two will play immediately after Michigan State and UConn wrap up on Thursday. Here's how to watch the Michigan State hockey game, including time, TV schedule and streaming information: What channel is the Michigan State vs. UConn on Thursday?
