Injury is not a concern and Scheffler missing this tournament was always a possibility with the imminent birth of he and wife Meredith’s second child.

The PGA Tour announced that his withdrawal was due to “family reasons,” but Scheffler has yet to comment. Scheffler has been runner-up in the Texas Children’s Houston Open three times, including the last two years. It is typically his final tournament that he plays as preparation for the Masters, which is just two weeks away.

This will be the Scheffler’s second child, as their son Bennett was born just a few weeks after Scheffler’s second Masters victory in 2024. While the timing of the withdrawal is not great for the Houston Open or Scheffler’s Masters prep, as the two-time Green Jacket winner is coming of a T22 finish at the Players Championship , it is understandable.
