Ex-Prem striker Kazim-Richards takes over struggling Crawley Crawley Town have turned to former Premier League striker Colin Kazim-Richards in a bid to steer the club away from relegation trouble after naming him their new head coach. The 39-year-old steps into the dugout following the departure of Scott Lindsey , whose second spell in charge ended after a damaging 10-game winless run left Crawley hovering just above the League Two drop zone. Kazim-Richards, who recently worked within the academy set-up at Arsenal , now faces the biggest challenge of his coaching career as he takes charge at Broadfield Stadium with survival on the line.
The former forward hung up his boots in 2023 after a spell with Karagümrük, bringing the curtain down on a well-travelled career that included spells with Derby County , Brighton & Hove Albion , Sheffield United , Celtic . He also earned 37 caps for Turkey national football team after making his international debut in 2007. Crawley sit 21st in League Two with just seven matches remaining, and Kazim-Richards will take charge for the first time when Gillingham visit this weekend before a huge trip to fellow strugglers Newport County on Good Friday.
