Real Madrid target Schlotterbeck set to sign extension with Dortmund -report

Yahoo Sports

According to AS.

Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck is about to sign a contract extension with his current club, one which will keep him in the club for five more years and give him a significant salary raise. Schlotterbeck’s current deal with Dortmund expires in the summer of 2027 and that’s the main reason why Real Madrid were interested in his signing. Now, even if his new contract were to include a somewhat affordable release clause in case Real Madrid came calling, the situation has changed and Los Blancos might need to look elsewhere, according to a report from AS.

Schlotterbeck has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga and he’s still 26 years old, so his signing would’ve made a ton of sense. Now, it looks like Real Madrid will need to spend a significant amount of money if they truly want to add him to the squad.
