Lady Vols basketball has some soul-searching to do after coach Kim Caldwell's second season ended in the first round of the Women's NCAA Tournament. It was only the third first-round exit ever for the storied program, which hasn't advanced past the Sweet 16 since 2016. Tennessee also recorded the worst winning percentage in program history (.

552) at 16-14 on the season. Here are the five biggest questions for Caldwell and the Lady Vols this offseason: Can Tennessee retain any of its roster? Tennessee has already reportedly lost two of its eight possible returners.

Freshman guard Deniya Prawl and junior forward Alyssa Latham both intend to enter the transfer portal. The transfer portal window for immediate eligibility will begin the day after the national championship and last from April 6-20. Caldwell and her staff were able to retain talent after their first season ended in the Sweet 16.

But Tennessee didn't have nearly the same amount of success this season, and Prawl and Latham announced intentions to transfer three days after the season ended before the second round was even over. Based on early indications, it doesn't appear Tennessee will have the same success retaining its roster this offseason. But based on the results on the court, a new roster seems necessary.
