Mohamed Salah set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has announced that he will leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season. The 33-year-old made the announcement through social media, confirming an exit that will bring an end to a record-breaking nine-year spell at Anfield. Salah’s announcement has sent shockwaves throughout the club, considering he signed a new two-year contract last summer, which was supposed to keep him at Anfield until 2027.
However, he has decided to move on following discussions with the club hierarchy, who have decided to honour their legend by allowing him to leave on a free transfer. “Unfortunately, the day has come,” Salah said on X (formerly Twitter) . “This is the first part of my farewell.
I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of this season. “I wanted to start by saying I never imagined how deeply this club, the city, these people would become part of my life. “Liverpool is not just a football club, it is a passion, it is a history, it is a spirit.
” Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 and has gone on to establish himself as a Premier League icon after a trophy-laden nine-year spell in Merseyside. The Egyptian winger is reportedly a priority target for clubs in the Saudi Pro League (SPL), who have revived their interest after previously seeing a mammoth £150 million bid turned down in 2023. It remains to be seen where he’ll end up, but he confirmed that he wanted to make the announcement as early as possible to clarify his future at the club.
