All Moisés Caicedo wants is to become a Chelsea legend

So say we all

The accompanying video was brief yet powerful, featuring not only Moisés (obviously), but his mother as well, as they posed for a picture at the back of a car.

The reveal at the end was that they were recreating a picture from a few years prior, posed exactly the same but with Moi wearing a 2020-21 Chelsea home shirt. The implication was that he was a fan, and joining his favorite club was a “dream come true” in more than just words. Since then, Caicedo has become not only one of our most important players, but one of the best (defensive) midfielders in the world, and we even voted him our WAGNH Player of the Year last season.

And he’s still just 24, and set to enter what are normally considered the prime years of a player’s career. Chelsea have spent a lot of money on a lot of players in recent seasons, and we spent a lot of that a-lot-of-money on Caicedo himself … but unlike a lot of the a-lot-of-players, he’s actually turned out to be worth it. So it’s certainly nice to hear that his love for the club hasn’t waned.

When he was accosted by Real Madrid-speaking microphones upon landing in Spain for international duty (Ecuador will be playing newly crowned, for now, AFCON champions Morocco in Madrid on Friday), Moi made it quite clear where his loyalties lie. “I’m focused on my club right now. I have a contract with my club, and I want to do well.
