Former Coahoma Bulldogette Hannah Wells named SEC Freshman of the Week
AUSTIN, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The former Coahoma Bulldogette superstar and current Texas Longhorn, Hannah Wells, was named the SEC Freshman of the Week after a dominant performance against Baylor. In the two games against Baylor, the Longhorns outscored them 21-2, with both games resulting in 5-inning run rules. In game one, Wells got the start in the circle, going five innings, allowing one run while striking out four batters.
At the plate, she sent one over the fence for a home run and also earned a walk. In game two, the former Coahoma standout had two plate appearances, including a 2-RBI double in the second inning. Wells has been a key piece to the success of the Texas softball program this season.
The team is currently ranked as the No. 1 team in the country at 28-1 overall. The Longhorns are riding a 26-game win streak that dates back to February 9.
The win streak is the longest in program history. On the season Wells is batting . 308 with six home runs, 26 hits, and 20 RBI.
