Steelers get bad news on Aaron Rodgers' potential return
The Pittsburgh Steelers are once again left without answers about their future with Aaron Rodgers as the starting quarterback.
Days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months as the Pittsburgh Steelers remain without an answer at the quarterback position. And one new report indicated it's unknown whether it'll include Aaron Rodgers any time soon. On Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the Steelers don't actually know whether or not Rodgers will return for another year, which is terrible news after failing to address the quarterback position in early free agency.
"Here is what I would say, trying to sum up the situation: I don't know if Aaron Rodgers is going to play next year," Rapoport said. "It does not seem like the Steelers and Mike McCarthy know whether or not Aaron Rodgers is going to play next year. If you talk to people who know him well, they do not know if Aaron Rodgers is going to play next year.
[There] does seem to be some real uncertainty about whether or not Rodgers will or will not play. " Rapoport then claimed that the "early word" was Rodgers was supposed to decide before free agency, and this was later pushed back to March, only for both projected timelines to fall flat. He added that until Rodgers makes a definitive decision, his future with Pittsburgh is "up in the air.
