49ers officially sign new OL, re-sign veteran RB
The San Francisco 49ers announced a pair of additions to their offseason roster on the offensive side.
The San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday announced a pair of roster moves that added depth on the offensive side of the ball for their 2026 offseason roster. Offensive lineman Robert Jones and running back Patrick Taylor both signed one-year deals with the club according to a press release by the team. Both free agent signings were previously reported .
Jones could be in line to start along the interior of the offensive line for San Francisco as they revamp that unit. Last season's Week 1 starter Ben Bartch remains an unrestricted free agent. His replacement, Connor Colby, is still on the roster, but Colby's replacement Spencer Burford left in free agency to join the Las Vegas Raiders.
Taylor has been with the 49ers for the last two seasons. He's familiar with the offense and contributes on special teams which may ultimately be his path to making the team. Last season's backup Brian Robinson Jr.
joined the Atlanta Falcons in free agency, and after Isaac Guerendo's rough 2025 campaign the door is open for Taylor to sneak onto the back of the roster. Both Jones and Taylor missed all of last season with injuries they sustained in training camp. Jones broke a neck bone in early August in his first season with the Dallas Cowboys, while Taylor dislocated his shoulder in the second preseason game and went on season-ending IR.
