Colorado men's basketball lands commitment from Australian forward

•Yahoo Sports

Colorado basketball picked up a commitment from a young 6-foot-9 Australian forward with tons of potential.

The Colorado Buffaloes added another piece to their frontcourt puzzle on Monday evening, landing a commitment from 6-foot-9 power forward Goc Malual. Malual is currently suiting up for the Sydney Kings in Australia's NBL, where he has played a depth role this season, averaging 1. 9 points per game in fewer than 5 minutes per appearance.

While the numbers are modest, his profile runs deeper than a stat line. Before his professional stint, Malual represented Australia in the Under-19 World Cup and flashed the kind of potential that clearly caught Colorado 's attention. Frontcourt-wise, Malual should slot in nicely for the Buffaloes.

His size and length give Boyle something to work with, and the head coach has a track record of identifying these under-the-radar, wildcard-type prospects and turning them into contributors. The hope in Boulder is that Goc Malual becomes the next name on that list. While the Australian forward's addition is a positive, the Buffs currently have an overfull roster, meaning the coaching staff likely expects a departure.

Malual thanked Boyle, assistant Nate Tomlinson, and his agent, Sean Tribe, during his commitment announcement. "Glory to God as I proudly announce my commitment to Colorado," Malual wrote on X. "Grateful to Coach Boyle, Coach Tomlinson, and Sean Tribe for their belief in me and for giving me the opportunity to grow and elevate my basketball journey.
