The Jaxon Smith-Njigba extension with the Seattle Seahawks proves the New York Jets were wise to extend Garrett Wilson.

The NFL saw a market-resetting deal on Monday. The Seattle Seahawks signed wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a record-breaking contract. The deal proves the New York Jets were incredibly smart to sign Garrett Wilson to an extension when they did .

The Seahawks signed the Super Bowl 60-winning Smith-Njigba to a a four-year extension worth a whopping $168. 6 million. The deal makes Smith-Njigba, the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history at $42.

15 million per year. The deal contains more than $120 million in guarantees. The Jets signed Wilson to a four-year contract extension worth $130 million last July.

Wilson hasn't quite reached the heights Smith-Njigba has, but he's established himself as a go-to wide receiver. Smith-Njigba's contract resets the market at wide receiver, so the Jets are fortunate to already have their top wideout under contract for the foreseeable future. Wilson's $130 million extension is now the sixth-richest at wide receiver in the NFL.
