There is still no answer to the Hubert Davis question at UNC
The waiting is the hardest part.

The rumors coming out of Chapel Hill have been consistent that Hubert Davis will not return as head coach next season. The how and the when remain up in the air, but it feels like we are too far down the rabbit hole for things to go backward at this point. For the less-than-patient types, it has been pretty quiet since a busy Saturday of national stories and every talking head weighing in on what Carolina should do.
Unfortunately, the time being rumors reaching a fever pitch and now has also opened the door for impassioned pleas from inside the house. Davis defenders, such as Larry Brown, are stepping forward to make it known they think this is all a big mistake. If you were hoping for something less than messy, well, it doesnโt seem like that is exactly how this is going to go.
There are plenty of reasons why any real news is taking this long. Boosters, who were rumored to be threatening to vote with their wallets if Davis was retained, need to be looped in when it comes to funding buyouts both coming and going. A decent number of worthy candidates are still coaching in the NCAA Tournament.
