Florida State returned from spring break Tuesday for its fourth practice of spring camp, and coach Mike Norvell came away pleased with the physicality and the response from a group he said has shown consistent purpose since the first day of camp. “It’s good to have everybody back after the break,” Norvell told local media. “We added even more installation, brought in some third-down situations into today’s practice.

Really wanted to stress the mind here today, and I think we accomplished that. ” Norvell complimented the defense, saying that it struggled to force turnovers in previous practices but responded in the team’s return to the field on Tuesday, saying he thought it was “a good response to that. ” The defensive line drew particular notice, with Norvell pointing to disruption in both movement and team periods, while the offensive line settled in as practice progressed.

On the edge, Texas A&M transfer Rylan Kennedy has been among the standouts through four days of camp. “You feel his explosiveness and length,” Norvell said, also noting a nice play from JUCO signee Jaylen Anderson. Kennedy, who also spoke on Tuesday, said the scheme here gives him a different kind of freedom than he had with the Aggies.

“Here it’s like you could put me at inside four-down, four-man fronts, and then you can see me somewhere else to the field,” Kennedy said. “I feel more free and more comfortable because they want to make me positionless. ” Kennedy also gave props to Anderson, saying that he’s “working hard, showing his skill set, always listening.

When I’m tired, he’ll make sure I’m good. If he’s tired, I’ll get on him. We get on each other so much cause we’re the same person, mentally we’re there.
