Everton fan's toaster and crumpets celebration goes viral
Matty Byrne, now dubbed "Toaster Man", says it was a gift for a wedding he was attending that night, complete with crumpets.
A man has gone viral for celebrating Everton's 3–0 win over Chelsea at Hill Dickinson stadium with a toaster and packet of crumpets. Matty Byrne, now dubbed "Toaster Man" was spotted cheering with the boxed electrical appliance, which he said was a wedding gift for friends along with the crumpets to go with it. "I was going to a wedding that night," he said.
"I didn't want to leave it in the boozer, so I decided just walk in with it. " Every time the Blues scored, the toaster was tossed into the air and surrounding fans wanted to join in. "Someone asked me to just throw it to him, so I threw it," Matty said.
"The next thing it was halfway round the stadium. "It come back to me though. " After the game, fellow Everton fans took to social media to describe Matty as a "legend".
While some considered the toaster as a "lucky charm", others questioned how he was able to get through security. "Done it now ain't he, that's coming to every game," one fan said. "How he do that?
