The Dolphins have only lost member of their running back group from the 2025 season, but one NFL writer believes the room is top five in the NFL.

The Miami Dolphins made many changes to most of their position groups this year, but the running back room has remained mostly the same. In fact, the only difference is that Alexander Mattison is is unsigned on the market right now. For 2026, Miami is set to return De'Von Achane, Jaylen Wright, Ollie Gordon II and Donovan Edwards, giving them a solid group to work with in the team's first season under new head coach Jeff Hafley.

After the first wave of free agency, Bleacher Report's Alex Kay actually ranked the Dolphins ' running back room as the fourth-best in the NFL right now. The only teams with running back rooms ranked higher than Miami were the Kansas City Chiefs (No. 3, after adding Kenneth Walker III), Atlanta Falcons (No.

2) and Los Angeles Rams (No. 1). While there are a lot of questions about the Dolphins' passing attack in 2026, Bobby Slowik's offense should be able to dominate the ground game if the blocking in front is solid enough.

Achane will also be a great resource for new quarterback Malik Willis, as he adjusts to starting in the NFL for really the first time in his career.
