Entering the 2026 MLB season, New York Yankees superstar slugger Aaron Judge is trying to not only make a World Series run but also make some MLB history along the way.

While he could go after another MVP award or try for a Triple Crown, there's a different record that Judge is eyeing, and he only needs 32 home runs to get there. As MLB. com's Sarah Langs writes, Judge is only 32 home runs away from reaching 400 in his career, which, if he does that this season, he would reach that HR total faster than any player has in MLB history.

"Judge needs 32 home runs, which certainly seems doable for a player who hit 62 in '22, 52 in '17, 37 in just 106 games in 2023, 58 in 2024, and 53 last season. " Reaching 32 home runs this season, reaching 400 for his MLB career, would not be a surprise whatsoever.

In fact, it might be more surprising if he doesn't reach 32 home runs this season than if he does. Coming into 2026, he's played 1,145 career games in the Majors. The fewest games played to reach 400 home runs in a career is Mark McGwire with 1,412 games played.
