Angelo Leo vs Ra’eese Aleem official for May 9th on DAZN
IBF featherweight champ Angelo Leo will end a nearly year-long layoff against mandatory challenger Ra’eese Aleem
IBF featherweight champion Angelo Leo will finally return to action on May 9th in Atlanta , taking on top contender Ra’eese Aleem atop a DAZN show. Leo (26-1, 12 KO) famously smoked Luis Alberto Lopez for the belt in 2024, only to spend the next seven months on the sidelines as Kameda Promotions slow-walked his inaugural defense against Tomoki Kameda. Though Leo ultimately defeated Kameda in hostile territory , a subsequent planned defense against Lerato Dlamini failed to materialize , leading the IBF to order a showdown with Aleem (23-1, 12 KO).
Best known for his work at 122, Aleem moved up to 126 after narrowly falling to Sam Goodman. “The Beast” enters his first title fight on the heels of three consecutive victories, chief among them a decision over undefeated Mikito Nakano in a final eliminator this past November. At 35 years old, odds are this will be his last shot at the big time.
