After defeating TCU in the Round of 32 Saturday, the Duke Blue Devils await St. John's in the Sweet 16. With a highly anticipated matchup set for Friday between Duke and longtime Blue Devils adversary , St.

John's head coach Rick Pitino, it's only right to take a look at the history behind these two teams. Since they first played each other in the 1978-79 season, Duke has found plenty of success against the Red Storm, owning a head-to-head record of 16-6. In those 22 games, Duke has scored an average of 79 points, with their highest total (97) coming in a matchup during the 2001-2002 season.

In the last 10 matchups between the two programs, the Blue Devils hold an 8-2 record. That said, the two sides haven't faced off against one another since the 2018-19 season, when both teams were led by different coaches. With the Blue Devils winning that matchup 91-61, they'll hope to repeat history Friday as the two schools are set to meet again.
