Official | Tottenham’s Mathys Tel withdraws from France U21 squad Tottenham Hotspur forward Mathys Tel (20) has withdrawn from France’s U21 squad after sustaining an injury over the weekend. Tel was called up to France’s U21 side but sustained a thigh injury during Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest over the weekend. He was forced off in the 67th minute and was replaced by Randal Kolo Muani.
Lens’ Fofana replaces Tel Despite that, Tel did turn up for international duty on Monday, even though he trained away from the team. He had a small individual session with Manchester United’s Leny Yoro, L’Équipe understands. The Tottenham forward wanted to retain his spot in the set-up; however, as confirmed by the FFF on Tuesday, he has now withdrawn.
Tel has been replaced by RC Lens forward Rayan Fofana. The Lens forward will have a chance to impress when Les Bleuets face Luxembourg and Iceland in qualifiers for the upcoming Euro U21 championship. GFFN | Luke Entwistle
