Joe Rogan: Jon Jones' $15 million White House offer 'kind of crazy'
Joe Rogan expected the UFC to offer Jon Jones more money to fight at the White House. Although UFC CEO Dana White continues to deny that Jones (28-1 MMA, 22-1 UFC) was ever part of the promotion's plans to compete June 14 at UFC Freedom 250, Jones insists otherwise. The former light heavyweight and heavyweight champion said he felt low-balled when he was offered "not a dollar more" than $15 million.
When debating the topic on Rogan's " Fight Companion " podcast, former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub argued that Jones has to take accountability after rejecting to fight Tom Aspinall for $30 million and opting to retire. However, Rogan still thinks $15 million is too low. "It was a money thing," Rogan said.
"Jon was saying they wouldn't budge over $15 million. I think in his mind, this is for an interim title. If he was going to get $30 million to fight Aspinall, half of that is kind of crazy.
He's the greatest of all time, and he's going to make the White House card. If he makes the White House card, you're like, 'Oh sh*t, Jon Jones is back. ' The whole card completely changes.
" Instead, Alex Pereira , who vacated his UFC light heavyweight belt, will battle Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title in the UFC Freedom 250 co-headliner. This article originally appeared on MMA Junkie: Joe Rogan shocked UFC offered Jon Jones $15 million for White House
