Where Patriots’ cap space stands after initial free agency moves

Yahoo Sports

Here's where things currently stand for the Patriots in available salary cap space after their initial free agency moves.

Where do the New England Patriots stand with their salary cap space after the initial moves that the franchise made in free agency this offseason? As much as the Patriots have been active in the open market in 2026, New England has also seen several free agents depart for other teams. K’Lavon Chaisson signed with the Washington Commanders.

Jaylinn Hawkins cashed in his season of note in 2025 on a deal with the Baltimore Ravens. Khyiris Tonga also exercised his rights as an unrestricted free agent by joining the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency. New England went out and signed wide receiver Romeo Doubs, defensive end Dre’Mont Jones, safety Kevin Byard, and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker, among other free agents.

After the whirlwind of free agency, the Patriots have $33 million remaining in cap space. Only six teams in the NFL have more cap space as presently constructed. None of New England’s new free agent acquisitions rank within the franchise’s top 10 highest cap hits for the 2026 season.

Byard has the highest cap number of the bunch at $9 million in 2026. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook . This article originally appeared on Patriots Wire: Where Patriots’ cap space stands after initial free agency moves
