Bears make a trade in latest 2026 NFL mock draft
A new NFL.com mock draft has the Chicago Bears trading down in the first round but still landing a top prospect at a position of need.
With the 2026 NFL Draft less than a month away, the Chicago Bears are building out their game plan and draft board as they look to shore up their roster in head coach Ben Johnson's second season. There's no more fun time leading up to the draft than mock draft season, with several different publications putting together several different versions looking to predict what teams could do this season. Chicago has four selections in the first 89 picks of this year's draft, and they could do real roster reconstruction with those early selections.
NFL. com's Chad Reuter shared his latest four-round mock draft, with trades on the table, including a first-round deal with the Bears that would see them move back in the first round and add another pick in the third round. Here's how Reuter has Chicago's first four rounds of the draft playing out.
Round 1, Pick 30 (Projected trade with Dolphins): Dillon Thieneman, S, Oregon After the Miami Dolphins traded away their top wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos this past week, a projected trade is on the table for Miami with the Bears. In this trade, the Bears would move down in the first, and add a third-round pick, a fifth-round pick, while sending pick No. 25 and a fourth round pick this year.
With the trade, Chicago would move down and select Thieneman, who is among the top names at safety in this year's draft class. A well-experienced player who had plenty of success at Purdue and most recently Oregon, Thieneman projects to be a Day 1 starter, and fills a big need for Chicago's safety position. Round 2, Pick 57: Treydan Stukes, CB, Arizona Treydan Stukes is a six-year senior who, like Thieneman, has plenty of college experience that could slide him into a bigger role as a rookie.
