USC women’s basketball blown out by South Carolina to end season
It was an ugly ending to the Women of Troy’s season, as they were blown out by South Carolina in the NCAA Tournament Monday night
On Monday night, the USC women’s basketball team faced South Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Trojans entered the game as heavy underdogs, needing just about everything to go right in order to pull out a victory. As it turned out, however, pretty much nothing went right.
South Carolina dominated the game from the start, cruising to an emphatic 101-61 win that eliminated USC from the NCAA Tournament. The Trojans deserve credit for taking down Clemson in the first round to get to this point. Against South Carolina, however, it was clear from the start that USC was simply outmatched and never stood a chance.
The loss ends what was a rebuilding season for the Trojans that featured plenty of growing pains. Without superstar Juju Watkins, USC rolled out a young team that showed flashes of potential, but struggled throughout the season and had a clear ceiling. With Watkins set to return to the court next season and a loaded recruiting class coming in , the vibe will be very different come next year.
The 2026-2027 season should carry incredibly high expectations for USC, as the Trojans look to chase a Final Four and national championship. This article originally appeared on Trojans Wire: USC women’s basketball blown out by South Carolina to end season
