Moody slipped on a breakaway in overtime and suffered a serious injury to his left knee.
He was wheeled away on a stretcher while his stunned, crestfallen teammates watched. The crowd at American Airlines Center fell silent. Head coach Steve Kerr knew the injury was significant the moment it happened.
Kerr immediately put his hands to his face in anguish, while the Mavericks took the ball downcourt. Draymond Green hugged Moody as officials took him away on the stretcher. Moody acknowledged the crowd's ovation and gave a thumbs-up to several spectators on his way out.
The Warriors went on to win the game 137-131. Moody, who had missed those 10 games with a wrist injury, scored 23 points in his return. Kristaps Porzingis added 22 points and Brandin Podziemski had 20.
