Eldridge Homers; Giants Defeat Sultanes de Monterrey
San Francisco Giants phenom Bryce Eldridge leads home run barrage as Giants squash Sultanes de Monterrey.
Guess who smoke a home run on Monday night at Oracle Park? Would you believe Bryce Eldridge? The San Franciso Giants' phenom slammed a three-run homer in the eighth inning as the Giants defeated Sultanes de Monterrey 10-2 in an exhibition game.
Eldridge, of course, will start this season playing for the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats. But that doesn't mean Eldridge wants to make a lasting impression on Giants manager Tony Vitello and president of baseball operations Buster Posey. Consider his mission accomplished on Monday night.
Eldridge, though, was not the only San Francisco player to smash a home run. With San Francisco leading 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Willy Adames hit a solo home run over the left-center field wall. Then, with the Giants up 5-2, Eldridge stepped to the plate and sent his shot over the left-field wall.
Luis Matos and Diego Cartaya also scored, putting San Francisco in total control at 8-2. With two outs in the bottom of the eighth, Tyler Fitzgerald smoked a two-run homer over the left-field wall. Drew Gilbert scored on the homer, too, and that wrapped up the Giants' scoring on Monday night.
