Instant Reaction: Mavericks need Kyrie Irving more than ever
A late-game rally by the Dallas Mavericks fell short Monday, as the Golden State Warriors pulled away in overtime to hand Dallas another home defeat at the American Airlines Center. Cooper Flagg and Max Christie kept the Mavericks in the game down the stretch, but a quick Warriors run in OT sealed the outcome. Flagg drove down the left side of the lane late in regulation, drawing Golden State’s defense and leaving Christie wide open in the corner.
Christie’s 3-pointer tied the game with under 90 seconds remaining. Dallas forced a jump ball on the next possession and won, giving them a chance to take the lead. Flagg again attacked the basket and kicked it out to Naji Marshall , but his shot rimmed out, sending the game to overtime.
In the extra period, the Warriors opened with a 7-0 run, putting the Mavericks on the ropes. Christie scored five of his 15 points in overtime, but it wasn’t enough. Dallas lost 137-131 in the contest, dropping its 12th straight home game.
Their last win at the AAC came against Golden State on Jan. 22, and they have just five home victories in 2026. The Mavericks also lost the rebounding battle 49-26.
Dallas will play back-to-back road games before returning home to face the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 30.
