Isabela Emerling's grand slam lifts Oklahoma to 5-2 win over Ole Miss
Isabela Emerling's pinch hit home run propelled the Oklahoma Sooners to a 5-2 win over Ole Miss and a series sweep of the Rebels.
The Oklahoma Sooners had a hard time solving Ole Miss pitcher Kyra Aycock, but came through with just enough offense to pull out a 5-2 win over the Rebels and earn the series sweep. Aycock kept the powerful Oklahoma lineup off balance throughout the contest as the Sooners struggled with runners on base. Oklahoma didn't score until the fourth inning when Kendall Wells hit a lead-off home run for her 25th of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1.
After the home run, Aycock responded well, limiting Oklahoma to a walk over the rest of the fourth and fifth innings. But in the sixth, the Sooners manufactured base runners to put the tying run on third with one out and the bases loaded. That's when Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso called upon senior Isabela Emerling to pinch hit for freshman Allyssa Parker.
Emerling swung on the first pitch she saw and smashed the ball into the darkness beyond the left field fence for a grand slam and a 5-2 Sooners lead. šØ BELA BOMB šØ šŗ @SECNetwork pic. twitter.
