This is the first year that Gonzalez is eligible for a contract extension. However, he still has another year remaining on his current deal, and the Patriots could exercise his fifth-year option this offseason, keeping him with New England through the 2027 season. If the Patriots are not interested in keeping Gonzalez and are considering moving on from him, this offseason would be the perfect time to do so, as they could receive a significant return.
