Official: Sevilla announce Matías Almeyda sacking La Liga outfit Sevilla have on Monday announced the dismissal of head coach Matías Almeyda. This comes amid an ongoing concerning spell of form on the part of the Nervionenses. Sevilla are fresh off another damaging defeat this past weekend, put to the sword by two goals to nil in a home meeting with Valencia.

This made it just a solitary victory from their last eight La Liga outings, leaving Sevilla in a lowly 15th in the Spanish top-flight table. Just three points clear of the relegation zone, the board at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán have therefore felt it necessary to take immediate action. As per a statement across Sevilla’s official website and social media platforms on Monday, Matías Almeyda has been sent on his way with immediate effect: ‘Matías Almeyda has been dismissed as manager of Sevilla FC.

The Argentine coach leaves the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium after managing 32 official matches, 29 in LaLiga and 3 in the Copa del Rey, following his arrival at the Nervión club in the summer of 2025. ‘Sevilla FC would like to thank Matías Almeyda and his team for their work during these months and wishes him the best of luck in his next professional challenges. ’ Conor Laird – GSFN
