New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone is tired of the allegations that he does not create the starting lineup by himself.

A longstanding rumor is that Boone receives help from the front office and analytical "nerds" to fill out the order. Fans and the media float the concept that every decision, down to bullpen moves, is not made by New York's manager. “I find it laughable,” Boone told The Athletic's Chris Kirschner .

The Yankees' bench coach, Brad Ausmus, echoed the same sentiment to Kirschner. “I will unequivocally say that Aaron Boone makes the lineup,” Ausmus said. Boone and his coaching staff make each day's lineup based on probable pitchers, potential relievers, and left-right balance, among many other things.

"There are also several rules of thumb Boone follows with the placement of hitters," Kirschner wrote Monday. "The Yankees employ the best hitter on the planet, three-time American League MVP Aaron Judge, and maximizing his production and the players around him in the order are important. " Brian Cashman chimes in “It irritates the f— out of me,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told Kirschner about the idea that Boone does not make the lineup, “because it’s so stupid, it’s so false, but yet people just throw it out willy-nilly.
