Limestone looking for new boys basketball head coach
The Bartonville-based Mid-Illini Conference school is lookin for a new head boys basketball coach.
Willie Coleman has resigned as the Limestone boys basketball head coach. Coleman is listed on the Limestone School District 310 board of education agenda under 'Approve Resignations' for Tuesday's monthly meeting. Coleman spent the last four seasons at the Bartonville-based Mid-Illini Conference school where he went 33-84 overall and 13-43 in league play.
In the 2025-26 season, Limestone went 9-20 and 3-11 in the Mid-Illini. The Rockets strung together a four-game win streak in late December and early January to claim third place at the Taylorville Holiday Tournament. However, Limestone ended its season on a six-game skid, losing in the regional semifinals to eventual Class 3A Elite Eight participant Morton.
The 1995 Manual grad, who two Class AA state titles as a player, came to Limestone following a five-year stint at his alma mater. There he was 60-58 overall highlighted by a 2019 Class 3A state fourth-place finish. Limestone last won a regional title in 2013 en route to a Class 3A state third-place finish under hall of fame coach Eddie Mathews.
