With that, a season that had a ton of promise came to an abrupt end, and the Badgers are now back in offseason mode with huge questions surrounding the roster.
This group was yet another strongly constructed one by head coach Greg Gard and his staff, who had to navigate serious changes to the roster last offseason, adding eight new scholarship players. It was arguably Gard’s best transfer portal class as a head coach, as the Badgers landed four impact players: Nick Boyd, Andrew Rohde, Austin Rapp, and Braeden Carrington, who all were key rotational players for the Badgers this year. Now, though, the Badgers will have to replace a couple of seniors and figure out some key decisions for the roster in 2026.
Let’s take a look at Wisconsin’s current roster and what to expect in 2026. Guards The Badgers will have some huge decisions here. Nick Boyd, Wisconsin’s best player this season, is out of eligibility and moving on.
Having a floor general at point guard was huge for Wisconsin in 2025 after they rolled out a couple of combo guards at the position in 2024. The Badgers have done very well with transfers and with guards under Greg Gard’s new offensive system, so it should be an attractive position in the transfer portal. The other guard spot, though, is the more pressing one, specifically regarding the future of John Blackwell.
