Crawley Town sack manager Scott Lindsey
Crawley Town sack manager Scott Lindsey Crawley Town have dismissed manager Scott Lindsey following a run of 10 matches without a victory, with the club hovering perilously close to the EFL League Two relegation zone, BBC Sport has reported. A 1-0 defeat at Fleetwood Town on Saturday proved decisive, leaving Crawley just one point above the bottom two and prompting the club’s hierarchy to act. Lindsey departs alongside assistant Neil Smith, with no interim successor yet confirmed ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Gillingham.
Owner Raphael Khalili described the decision as a difficult one, acknowledging Lindsey’s contribution while conceding that recent results had fallen short of expectations. “ Scott has given this club some everlasting memories, ” Khalili said, “ but unfortunately results have not been at a high enough standard. ” Lindsey’s tenure has been marked by contrasting fortunes.
He guided Crawley to promotion via the play-offs in 2024, yet has since struggled to arrest a prolonged decline. The club have managed just six league wins this season and have not won since the end of January. With their Football League status under threat, Crawley now face a pivotal appointment as they seek to halt their slide and preserve their place in the division.
