Former Falcons DL Sam Roberts is signing with the Giants in 2026 NFL free agency

The New York Giants are signing former Atlanta Falcons defensive lineman Sam Roberts, according to a report from NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo. Roberts appeared in five games for the Falcons last season, recording 18 tackles (six solo) and one sack before going on injured reserve in Week 11 due to knee and ankle injuries. The 27-year-old was originally drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

After spending two seasons in New England, Roberts signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2024. One year later, Atlanta signed the veteran defensive lineman off of the Panthers' practice squad a week before the 2025 NFL season began. The Falcons had the option to tender Roberts but opted to let him enter NFL free agency.

He now lands with the new-look Giants under head coach John Harbaugh. "The Giants are signing DT Sam Roberts to a one-year deal, per his agent Ross Jones," reported Garafolo . "Former 6th-rd pick of the Patriots appeared in five games and registered his first career sack with the Falcons this past season after Atlanta signed him off the Panthersโ€™ practice squad.

" Over four NFL seasons, Roberts has appeared in 20 games (two starts), recording 26 tackles (nine solo) and one sack. The Falcons have gone in a different direction at defensive tackle, letting David Onyemata, Kentavius Street and Roberts sign elsewhere while adding Da'Shawn Hand and Chris Williams. The team also brought back defensive lineman LaCale London after a breakout season in 2025.
